Hallow’en or All Hallows Eve is the beginning of a three day Christian festival comprising of All Hallows Eve, All Saints Day and All Souls day.

Collectively it is known as AllHallowsTide and is an important Christian festival that is about honouring and remembering the dead. It is characterised by light shining in the darkness and showing no fear in death because of our belief in everlasting life in Heaven.

In more recent times some of the halloween traditions have taken a dark or violent tone, and some young people have been tempted into dangerous and anti-social behaviour that can be scary and upsetting for older and younger generations alike. But we know it doesn’t have to be like that.

Kids love halloween, and we want to help you teach them its real meaning so they can enjoy all the fun and grow and learn from it at the same time!

At St Christopher’s, Jaywick (find us here) we are running a 10-15 minute walk in event for families with children as somewhere to safely visit and collect treats this year. We hope that there will be a chance to remember our loved ones and do a little craft and perhaps show-off a costume (though they aren’t compulsory!)

There is plenty of parking directly next to the church on the grass as St Christopher’s way. In accordance with the law face masked are required for those not exempted by age or condition.  We hope to see you there!
